Mr. Schroder's core principles and perspective on maritime environmental and regulatory compliance stem from a lifetime of involvement in the international maritime industry. Born in Norway, he comes from a family with a rich history in ship ownership, including OSCO Shipping, a pioneer in developing the ocean-going chemical and product trade.
In 2000, Mr. Schroder co-founded and served as a principal and partner of Hudson Marine Management Services, a maritime consulting group specializing in crisis management, emergency response, and maritime security.
Following a compliance failure at the OMI Corporation (OMI) in 2003, Mr. Schroder joined the company to establish an environmental compliance department with a unique charter to create an industry-leading culture of regulatory compliance and professionalism from the ground up. He played a key role in OMI's recovery and success through a multi-faceted approach that combined clear and effective policies, active support for ship crews and shore staff through responsive problem-solving and leadership, and innovative, in-depth compliance workshops for both shipboard and office teams. His efforts contributed significantly to enhancing corporate value. When TORM acquired part of OMI, his dedication further strengthened TORM's environmental compliance program amidst a rapidly evolving maritime industry.
In 2013, Mr. Schroder joined Scorpio, headquartered in New York and Monaco, as its Director of Environmental Compliance. He spearheaded the creation of SECAT, an independent organization within Scorpio Group dedicated to providing environmental compliance services to Scorpio and its related entities, including shipowners, affiliated vessel managers, and third-party vessel managers. In this capacity, he collaborated with INTERTANKO (International Association of Independent Tanker Owners) at the IMO's (International Maritime Organization) Marine Environmental Protection Committee.
Mr. Schroder is also a board member of NAMEPA (North American Marine Environment Protection Association) and the Norwegian-American Chamber of Commerce.
